Bamboo Toothbrush vs. Plastic Toothbrush

At Yoursmilebox, we believe companies should be responsible for the products they put into the world, from design to disposal. That is why our toothbrush was the first disposable item that we redesigned for sustainability.

Plastic products are very common in our modern life. According to an estimate, every year we use approximately 1.6 million barrels of oil just for producing plastic bottled water. Plastic waste is one of many types of wastes that take too long to decompose. Normally, plastic items take up to 1000 years to decompose in landfills. Plastic bottles take 450 years and plastic toothbrushes take up to 400 years to decompose.

Almost every plastic toothbrush ever produced is still somewhere on the planet. Thankfully, sustainable living is starting to gain popularity. Yoursmilebox bamboo toothbrush is made with a bamboo handle and brush head which is 100% compostable and antimicrobial. The bristles are made out of corn and tapioca starch with a small percentage of nylon derived from petroleum to remove plaque efficiently. Remove the bristles with tweezers before disposing. Our packaging can go straight to your compost pile as its made of recycled kraft paper and soybean ink.
At Yoursmilebox, we strive to make our products as sustainable as possible. We are passionate about reducing waste and using safe dental hygiene products. Nothing is perfect but it’s a step in the right direction.
